NDLEA arrests three suspects



The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, has arrested three suspected drug traffickers.



They allegedly attempted to smuggle 8.211kilogrammes of substances suspected to be methamphetamine from Nigeria to Malaysia.

Addressing reporters yesterday in Kano, the new Area Commander in charge of the Special Command at the airport, Mr. Ambrose Umoru, said the suspects were arrested after a body scan as they were about to board an Egyptian airline plane. 

He said one of the suspects, simply identified as Chinedu Ozoego, 27, excreted 67 wraps of methamphetamine, weighing 1.211kilogrammes after he was placed on observation for about four days.
Umoru said the two other suspects, 31-year-old Offorkansi Nnadozie Anthony and Uzoechi Hycenth Ejike, 43, were arrested on their way to Kuala Lumpur en route Cairo, Egypt.

According to him, the suspects concealed the drugs in a false bottom attached to their travel bags said to have been loaded with stock fish and melon, among others.


Umoru said after investigations, Ozoego was charged at the Federal High Court, Kano, adding that the others would be arraigned after investigations.
